Artist Statement
My artwork is a personal expression, reflecting my inspirations, mindset and feelings at the time of creation. My fascination with color is evident in every work. Most often choosing to work in bright, vibrant colors, I like to work on canvas with acrylic paints and non-traditional media including glue, paper, cork and other materials. I enjoy experimenting with colors and media, creating work that is interactive, causing people to reach out and touch the artwork.
I am inspired by many things - an unusual color combination, emotions I've experienced or observed, conversations and life experiences. I am particularly inspired by the colors, textures and shapes that occur in nature. People often see different and unexpected things when viewing my work and I like that people create their own meanings from what they see. My process for creating is simple: I get an idea, sometimes I sketch it, I paint, and I stop painting when I feel the painting is complete. From start to finish, this process can take a few days or a few years. |
